Internationally acclaimed clarinetist David Krakauer occupies the unique position of being one of the world's leading exponents of Eastern European Jewish klezmer music and a major voice in classical music. Known for his mastery of myriad styles, Krakauer lies far beyond "cross-over". His best-selling classical and klezmer recordings further define his brilliant tone, virtuosity and imagination.

As an artist who has consistently defied categorization, Krakauer has enjoyed major ongoing artistic collaborations with a tremendously diverse group of performers and composers. Highlights include his renowned collaboration with the Kronos Quartet on Osvaldo Golijov's The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind; touring with the Emerson String Quartet; tours with Music from Marlboro; the premiere and numerous performances of David Del Tredici's Magyar Madness, commissioned by Music Accord for Krakauer and the Orion String quartet; and participation in the BBC documentary Holocaust, A Music Memorial from Auschwitz (with music of Osvaldo Golijov) which won the International Emmy in the performance category (2005). David Krakauer has also worked with the Juilliard and Tokyo String Quartets.

In the last three years, Krakauer has begun to emerge as a new and compelling soloist, introducing his distinctive klezmer sound to symphony audiences around the US and Europe. He has recently appeared with distinguished orchestras such as the Dresdner Philharmonie, Pacific Symphony, Weimar Staatskapelle, Detroit Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, Quebec Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, New World Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Komische Oper orchestra and the Orchestre Lamoureux. He has premiered and championed concertos by Osvaldo Golijov, Paul Moravec, Jean Philippe Calvin, Ofer Ben Amots and the 24-year-old rising star Wlad Marhulets. In spring 2012, he will perform The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind with the Orchestre National de Lyon.

Touring internationally to major venues and festivals including Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, Venice Biennale, Krakow Jewish Culture Festival, BBC Proms, and many others has enabled Klezmer Madness! to leave a lasting impression on the myriad and diverse music scenes of the world.

Krakauer has an extensive discography.
