The Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in cooperation with Deutsche Welle is regularly touring the new EU member states. The first concertin December 2004 took place in Sofia with the Windsbacher Knabenchor under the direction of the choir's leader Karl-Friedrich Beringer (Johann Sebatian Bach's Christmas Oratorio).

In October 2005 the orchestra played in Bukarest under Kent Nagano with soloist Jörg Widmann. (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Jupiter-Sinfonie and Concerto for clarinet), Jörg Widmann: Labyrinth).

In February 2006 the orchestra and Kent Nagano were invited in Warsaw. The program was Richard Wagner's prelude of "Lohengrin"and "Tristan und Isolde", "Isoldes Liebestod", Arnold Schönberg's 5 orchestra pieces op.16 and the symphony no. 4 of Johannes Brahms.

The DSO made their first guest appearance in Belgrade on 3rd May 2007 under the leadership of the Norwegian conductor Arild Remmereit with works by Rautavaara, Liszt and Sibelius. The occasion for the concert was the German Presidency of the European Council.
