+++ Hans Werner Henze’s Elogium Musicum premiered with great success in Leipzig +++

The premiere of Elogium Musicum amatissimi amici nunc remoti in commemoration of Hans Werner Henze's late partner in life Fausto Moroni received great acclaim from audience and critics alike. "Unbelievable, how Henze manages to turn private grief into art, even in the most mournful moments, he remains the somnambulist within the beautiful that he has always been", writes Claus Spahn in Die Zeit (read more at the Reviews section).

The Gewandhaus Orchestra and the MDR Radio Choir premiered the work on 3 October in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig under the baton of Riccardo Chailly.

Hans Werner Henze says of his eulogies, based on texts by Franco Serpa and composed as a lamentaion imbued with grief and loss: "The sun light incides and brightens up everything. Thus, it is often referred to joy, love of life, miracles of nature and the beautiful and gruesome things in life associated with these."
