+++ The Scharoun Ensemble's 25th anniversary: Our congratulations! +++
For 25 years, the Scharoun Ensemble has been offering chamber music at the highest level. The ensemble celebrated its anniversary with a concert in Berlin on April 19. Under the direction of Pierre Boulez, who himself was a special birthday present to the musicians, the ensemble played paradigmatic works from the 20th century. Soprano Barbara Hannigan, performing as soloist with the ensemble, enthralled the audience at the Berlin Philharmonie.
The press also showered the ensemble with compliments on their anniversary. The Berliner Morgenpost spoke of "exemplary performances of works by Schönberg, Berg and Webern" and highlighted the "unsurpassable comprehension of the works and equally impressive instrumental mastery". And the Tagesspiegel honoured the ensemble in an extensive feature: "Without the permanent pioneer work of the Scharoun Ensemble, the Berlin Philharmonic would not be the orchestra of the 21st century that is being celebrated worldwide, most recently during their visit to New York in November 2007.
We congratulate the Scharoun Ensemble and look forward to future concerts!
