+++ Bochum's music center to become a reality by 2013 +++
The chief conductor of the Bochum Symphony, Steven Sloane, has fought for years for the creation of a concert hall for his orchestra and has raised more than 14 million euros along the way. Following the deflation of Bochum's budget, which was considered the project's death knell, the government of North Rhine-Westphalia has given the project the green light.
The inauguration concert of the hall, which will accomodate about 1000 music lovers, is being planned for 2013. The hall will not only be home to the Bochum Symphony but will provide the focal point for a new creative quarter in Bochum, and will serve as a place for a multitude of artistic encounters, including space for a music school.
