Interactive 3D-performance
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's the world's first interactive combination of a symphony orchestra, a dancer and real-time generated stereoscopic projections. THE INDEPENDENT
Le Sacre du Printemps is the latest project of renowned Austrian media artist Klaus Obermaier. It features a breathtaking and innovative interpretation of Stravinsky's classical masterpiece (The Rite of Spring).
A symphony orchestra will be placed on stage with a smaller extra stage for one dancer in front of the orchestra. Cameras and electronic sensors transfer the dancer's body into a virtual, three-dimensional space which will be projected onto a large screen above of the orchestra. The audience will be equipped with 3D-glasses to experience the virtual three dimensions.
The 3D-performance was commissioned by the Brucknerfest Linz 2006 and developed in collaboration with Ars Electronica Futurelab Linz.
