Laura Philipp was born and raised in Berlin. Following early childhood music education classes, she began to play the violin at age 6. To this day, she is an enthusiastic orchestral player.
She studied American and British Cultural Studies and Literature, Economics, and Musicology at the University of Potsdam and the Freie Universität Berlin. She spent a year studying abroad in Cardiff (Wales) with courses at the Cardiff School of Music. As a DAAD scholar, she spent several months in New York City to research her master's thesis, titled Financial Support for Symphony Orchestras in New York City and Berlin. Through interviews with administrators at New York's symphony and chamber orchestras, foundations, and arts councils, she gained a thorough insight into the American system of cultural funding.
During her studies, she worked as an intern for a Berlin concert agency as well as for an international press agency and at the Schwetzinger SWR Festival.
Laura has been working at Karsten Witt Musik Management since May 2010.
