+++ New production by Christoph Marthaler with Tora Augestad will premiere at the Vienna Festival: Letzte Tage. Ein Vorabend ('Last Days. An Eve') is the title of the new music theatre project by Swiss stage director Christoph Marthaler that will be shown at the Wiener Festwochen from 17 to 28 May. The performances of the piece which deals with the time around the outbreak of World War I and will be shown in the historical assembly hall of the Austrian parliament.
+++ Trio Mediaeval with the 'Worcester Ladymass' in Ghent, Cremona, Ettiswill und Nuremberg: In May and June, the singers will be on tour with their program A Worcester Ladymass, visiting Ghent (16/5), Cremona (19/5), Ettiswil (2/6) and Nuremberg (25/6).
+++ Caroline Stein will perform Wagner at the Opéra Bastille: As Woglinde in Wagner's Götterdämmerung, the soprano will sing in seven performances between 21 May and 16 June. Philippe Jordan will conduct the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Paris for the production which was stage directed by Günter Krämer.
+++ The Spoleto Festival will present the American premiere of Toshio Hosokawa's opera 'Matsukaze': The new production which was stage directed by Chen Shi-Zheng will be shown at the Spoleto Festival between 24 May and 8 June.
+++ Tehila Nini Goldstein with Mysliveček's opera 'L'Olimpiade' in Prague, Caen, Dijon und Luxembourg: The production of the Prague National Theatre premiered on 2 May at the Estates Theatre. Following two performances in Caen on 14 and 15 May, the opera will travel to Dijon and Luxembourg. Tehila Nini Goldstein will perform the breeches role of Licida.
+++ Anssi Karttunen is new Artistic Director of Musica nova Helsinki: We are delighted to announce that the cellist has been appointed as Artistic Director of Finland‘s largest festival for contemporary music. A passionate advocate for new music, the cellist premiered more than 130 works and was Artistic Director of the Helsinki Biennial, the predecessor of Musica nova, in 1995. The festival's next edition will take place in 2015.
+++ Schwetzingen Festival focusing on music by Georg Friedrich Haas: The Schwetzingen Festival will feature the composer in a series of concerts, including several premieres. The focus on Haas kicked off with four concerts on 9 May. On 23 May, the RSO Stuttgart under the direction of Jonathan Stockhammer will perform Georg Friedrich Haas's orchestral piece in vain. On 24 May, the opera Thomas will be premiered in Schwetzingen; performances will follow until 28 May.
+++ Brad Lubman will conduct the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto: The concert on 25 May at the Casa da Música will present music by Italian composers. Brad Lubman will conduct works by Malipiero, Donatoni, Sciarrino and Verdi.
+++ The Orchestre National de Lyon will perform under the direction of Peter Rundel: On 25 May, Peter Rundel will conduct works by György Ligeti, Unsuk Chin and Béla Bartók in Lyon.
+++ Steven Sloane at the Frankfurt Opera: The Oper Frankfurt will present Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in combination with Béla Bartók's Herzog Blaubarts Burg in a production stage directed by Barrie Kosky. Steven Sloane will conduct four performances between 25 May and 20 June.
+++ Georg Friedrich Haas will become Professor at New York's Columbia University: In September, the composer will join Columbia University's composition faculty as a full-time tenured professor, assuming the post previously held by Tristan Murail.
